Millennium Excellence Awards: Steel Manufacturer B5 Plus Named CSR Company of the Year

B5 Plus, the leading steel manufacturing company in Ghana and West Africa, has been named as the “Corporate Social Responsibility Company of the Year” at the Millennium Excellence Awards. Organized every five years to honor institutions and individuals for their contributions to national development, the Millennium Excellence Awards was held in Kumasi in July 2021.

B5 Plus Care Foundation won the coveted Millennium Excellence Award for Corporate Social Responsibility in high recognition of the marked improvement it has made in the lives of Ghanaians. The Foundation has indeed changed the lives of many underprivileged children by providing them with basic needs, including free education and basic medical care.

The Millennium Excellence Foundation also saluted B5 Plus for its annual blood donation camp and free health check up campaign, as well as for establishing the DPS lnternational Ghana school. which is a very significant contribution to education development in Ghana, its mission being to champion the cause of education in West African countries by providing a world class education. The school is alive to the challenge of grooming students to be lifelong learners by developing their skills as academic achiever, progressive thinkers, effective communicators and empowered citizens who “think local but act global.”

Speaking after the awards, Mukesh Thakwani, the Founder and CEO of B5 Plus, said: “this is a special award because of what B5 Plus has been doing in CSR; this is a very good recognition.” He added: “today we are very proud to say that since March 2020, we delivered free oxygen to all government and private hospitals, 100% medical care, free education and donations – so all our Corporate Social Responsibility works have been recognized. We are really thankful to Millennium Foundation for this and I would like to add that B5 Plus will keep delivering free oxygen to all government and private hospitals until we are able to put COVID-19 behind us.”
