B5 Plus Once Again Recognised for its Tremendous Impact on the Steel Manufacturing Industry in Ghana

B5 Plus Limited, the largest steel manufacturing company in Ghana and the whole West Africa region, has once again been recognised for its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and tremendous impact on the steel manufacturing industry in the country.

Headquartered in Tema, B5 Plus continues to lead the steel manufacturing sector, and, even though the year has not come to an end, the company has bagged quite a number of awards following its huge impact on the society, despite the existence of the novel coronavirus which gave businesses some difficulties.

At the recent National Brands Innovation Awards – an awards scheme organised by the National Innovation Forum which is a platform that enables the exchange of thought-provoking knowledge and ideas between thoughtful, exception brands leaders – B5 Plus was awarded the ‘Best Manufacturing Brand of the Year’ and received a certificate for being among the top hundred brands across industries in Ghana.

The company was also named ‘Best Manufacturing and Fabrication Company of the Year’ at the recent Ghana Manufacturing Awards held in Accra.

Other awards include: ‘Excellence in Health and Safety’ at the 2022 Ghana-West Africa Business Awards (GWABEA); ‘Manufacturing Company of the Year’ and ‘Mining Support Service Company of the Year’ at the Responsible Business and Leadership Excellence Awards; while the CEO and Group Chairman of B5 Plus, Mukesh Thakwani, was also honoured in all the awards as ‘Best CEO’.

He told the media in an interview that B5 is excited and proud of the honours, which according to him are keeping them on their toes and making sure they keep delivering the best. He also thanked the various organisers for the continuous support, as well as his workers, adding that without them it would not have been possible for the company to get to this current stage.

“The awards really make us feel proud that the company is excelling in business and came as a result of dedication and hard work because we keep delivering the best as a one stop shop for steel – and that is the motto of B5 Plus Limited,” he said.

Mr. Thakwani indicated that the company is capable of serving Ghana and the whole West African region at a competitive rate, and therefore the Ghanaian Government should do away with imported steel on the market, as well as ensure consistent flow of power and water.

He noted that his philosophy as the Founder of the company is to give back to the society generously by creating ample opportunities for everyone. “There is a direct relationship between the sustainability of the business, well-being and the development of society. We are committed in giving back to society in order to reciprocate all the care, support and encouragement that has been well received by us”, he said.

“Successful people have always felt the urge toward social responsibility to make the world a better place and not just take from it. B5 Plus Limited functions with this principle and never shies away from its responsibility of giving back to society,” he added.

Touching on some projects carried out by the company, Mukesh Thakwani said the B5 Plus Care Foundation takes care of underprivileged children in Ghana by providing them basic needs, including free education and basic medical care. B5 Plus Care Foundation organises Blood Donation Camps and free Health checkup campaigns every year.

In education, Mr. Thakwani said that B5 Plus Limited is also the promoter of DPS International Ghana, a school located at Community 25, giving education to locals and some foreign nationals.
