B5 Plus Named Platinum Economic Pillar and Outstanding Steel Manufacturing Company of The Year

Ghana-based top steel manufacturer B5 Plus adds two more awards to its prestigious list of recognitions. Recently, the company has been awarded the “Platinum Economic Pillar Company of the Year” at the 2021 Pillars of Modern Ghana Awards, as well as “Outstanding Steel Manufacturing Company of the Year” at this year’s Ghana lnternational Products Awards (GIPA).

The Pillars of Modern Ghana Awards was instituted to recognise individuals and corporate bodies that have contributed to make Ghana great. Receiving the award, Mukesh Thakwani, the Founder and CEO of B5 Plus, said: “B5 Plus is an economic pillar for the Ghanaian society. We have directly and indirectly created more than 15,000 jobs within many sectors across Ghana, so we are having a great impact and we are very proud to say that B5 Plus is creating entrepreneurs for the future.”

As for Ghana lnternational Products Awards (GIPA) which took place in Accra in June 2021, its aim is to guide consumers to the best products and reward manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, retailers, importers and exporters for their commitment to excellence and quality. It came as no surprise that B5 Plus was named “Outstanding Steel Manufacturing Company of the Year”. After receiving the award, Mr Mukesh Thakwani said: “I would like to say thank you to all the workers of B5 Plus, as I always say that once we receive the awards, it is going to keep us on our toes, making sure that we keep doing our best. We will make sure we keep up the standard high in producing the best product in terms of steel for the people of Ghana and for other countries.”

In a recent interview, Mr. Thakwani called for the promotion of products made in Ghana to help stimulating the country’s economy and make living less stressful for Ghanaians. He opined that government should invest in Ghanaian businesses to help in the production of made in Ghana goods, which will also have a positive impact on the economy through exportation. For made in Ghana products to have a higher purchase on the market, Mr. Thakwani believes the Ghana Standard Authority, Food and Drugs Authority and the various bodies must ensure that there is no cheaper product on the market to sustain industries in the country. He also pleaded with the government to help in ensuring free movement of goods across ECOWAS countries and asked them to look at the electricity issues in the country so as to foster high productivity.
