Spenomatic Solar: The Leading EPC Provider of Solar PV Solutions in East Africa

Established in Kenya in 1998, Spenomatic is a group of over 200 technocrats from diverse fields, contributing to empower Africa in the energy and environment sector. It is the current market leader in providing solar photovoltaic solutions in East Africa, with more than 50 million KW of cumulative energy installations across the group, and is slowly expanding its base across the continent.

Over the years, Spenomatic has developed through a pull mechanism, with clients demanding intervention in areas which weren’t necessarily part of its core operations. The group started as Spenomatic Kenya Ltd, dealing with boilers, power plants, water treatment plants, etc., and then expanded into utility chemicals with Spenomatic Labs and Chemicals in order to assist with servicing the above, as requested by its clients. Eventually, this demand led to the incubation of Spenomatic Solar Ltd.

Spenomatic Solar

Spenomatic Solar Ltd has installed and commissioned 1.9 MW worth of solar installations within its first year of operations in 2019. Between then and now, the company has successfully commissioned over 14.6 MW of projects, and currently has 11.2 MW worth of projects under installation, as well as an additional 8.6 MW of orders under closure, bringing Spenomatic Solar to a whopping 36 MW worth of power being sourced through renewable energy in the African continent.

The primary reason for this success has been its hospital-casualty approach to the industry. This means Spenomatic Solar always put the clients’ needs first and is committed to finding the best solutions suitable for them, while helping them become least cost producers. This has been the entire group’s core strategy, which is why today, Spenomatic has almost 95% market shares across all its product offerings.

Customers have tremendous faith in the company’s technical capabilities, as Spenomatic works towards long term sustainable solutions, and not quick fixes. Today, the group celebrates 23 years of existence, and is here to stay. Spenomatic operates in a win-win manner, and it is the singular reason why the solar vertical has managed to grow at such a rapid rate in such a short period of time.

Spenomatic Solar

So far, Spenomatic Solar Ltd has helped power Kenya with over 35 MW of solar projects in the commercial and industrial sectors, thereby bringing down the country’s CO2 levels. The company is slowly expanding into the East African region, and has set a target of closing 100 MW within the year, which means Africa’s overall green footprint is just about to improve drastically, reducing its carbon emission by over 136,000 tons per annum.

Having worked with many companies in the floriculture sector, Spenomatic has helped various flower farms in averting more than 32,000 tons of CO2 while generating more than 1,000 MW of power.

In addition, the growth of Spenomatic Solar Ltd across Africa will create many more job opportunities. Being known for its technical capabilities, the group’s goal is to ensure all team members are empowered with the same. In the long run, that means providing a well-equipped, knowledgeable workforce to the African continent.

Finally, helping all clients reduce their cost of production means more household income and greater standards of living for the average African family, thus contributing to Africa’s economic growth.
