Security Solutions: Hipora Celebrates More Than 10 Years of Loss Control Excellence in East Africa

Hipora Group is an integrated loss control and security organization that provides highly efficient and cost-effective pre-integrated business and security solutions to control losses in business, ranging from merchandise theft to pilferage, shoplifting, fraud, excessive discounting, paperwork mistakes, etc. Hipora serves a variety of sectors such as retail, manufacturing, trading, and processing industries.

The company has two arms. The first one consists of business solutions that provide stock loss control which includes inventory management. While security management provides manned security services, retail security officers, patrol dogs, and handlers, business intelligence, CCTV security manning, and installations among others.

Hipora’s multi-skilled agents (loss control officers, front end controllers, double checkers, etc.) are strategically placed in vulnerable areas of organizations to infiltrate and successfully identify sources of loss and irregularities.

The company’s goal is to enable continuous transformation of businesses through the deployment of integrity trained staff, managing its clients’ inventory processes to ensure no losses, offering products and services that will provide unmatched solutions to meet the needs of Kenyan and East African businesses, but also remain at the top and continue commanding the loss control market.

Hipora’s highly trained employees are key to its ever-growing success. In a recent interview, CEO John Wanjohi said: “In the last 10 years, we have seen the company grow from one employee to over a thousand employees. I appreciate the fact that our success is derived from our human resource capital. During recruitment, we identify qualified youth, some from disadvantaged and marginalized communities, train them, and then offer employment. I am proud of my amazing team because, without them, success could have never been achieved. High integrity levels of our human resource capital and hardworking team are our greatest strength. This goes back to our thorough recruitment process and integrity training of our loss control officers (getting the right talent) which gives us an edge in the market and makes us be the preferred loss control company in East Africa and beyond.”

With success come expansion plans, and Hipora is currently ensuring that it covers the whole region. The company started in Kenya in 2009, but also has a presence in Uganda and Tanzania, and is planning on entering the Rwandan and Ethiopian markets by the end of the year. “I am now focused on expanding Hipora’s wings to other countries in the diaspora, and one of my objectives is to create over 5,000 jobs focusing on the continued sustainability of giving youth from disadvantaged communities a 50 percent opportunity for the jobs”, said John Wanjohi.
