Metal Ar was founded in 1967, initially as a company leasing pneumatic mining equipment, and is now a leader in the Brazilian market of pneumatic and hydraulic mining equipment and services, mining and excavating millions of tonnes of rock every year.

In 1988, Metal Ar was awarded its first contract for rock drilling with the company Serrana S.A. The company really made a name for itself as a pioneering business as it was the first company in Brazil to import state of the art machinery and equipment from Europe in 1989. In fact, Metal Ar was the first company to introduce hydraulic drills to Brazil. Metal Ar purchases much of the equipment it uses from the international, renowned company Atlas Copco. The directors of Metal Ar, Paulo Dias and Celso Eduardo Mazzetti, later decided to diversify the services offered by their company and with this entrepreneurial spirit, Metal Ar became the first company to outsource drilling, maintenance, operation and loading services under partial or complete contract. In 1994, Metal Ar outsourced its services for the first time to the company Camargo Correa Cimentos S.A.

The company has been involved in contracts with partners Bunge Fertilizantes (now Vale Fertiizantes), for the removal of millions of tonnes of rock per year in the state of Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais and Goias. They also work with companies such as Copebras, Votorantin and Camargo (now Intercement) in the states of Mato Grosso do Sul, Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais and Alagoas. As well as offering drilling services, Metal Ar also offers loading and transport services.

Metal Ar strives for the best possible quality and consequently was one of the first companies in its sector to receive the ISO 9000 certification for hydraulic drilling, excavation, loading and transportation. The company is continually investing in the latest and best equipment and technology, such as the Smartmine 3D real time mapping system that helps to maintain optimum efficiency in the operation of their mines.
