Delhi Public School International students have joined the global call for action on climate change, voicing their solutions at the annual Science Fair Exhibition held on campus. Themed "Reclaiming the Planet," the event, hosted by DPSI Ghana in Tema, featured over 700 student exhibits showcasing innovative approaches to environmental challenges.
The students offered solutions to various environmental challenges. Unlike the previous edition, there was mass participation of students from pre-primary to the senior secondary levels. Projects ranged from energy conservation initiatives like "save energy – save the planet", to working models including the use of solar energy to control traffic lights and the use of AI in directing traffic, among others. Additionally, projects promoting the 3-Rs (Recycle, Reuse, Restore) were also showcased.
DPSI Ghana is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE). As such, the school authorities mandated the students to research, design and make a brief presentation of their projects to parents and other guests who visited their stands.
The Founder of DPSI Ghana, Mr. Mukesh Thakwani, accompanied by distinguished guests including the Ambassador of Lebanon H.E. Maher Kheir and the Ambassador of Kenya H.E. Eliphas Barine, toured all 700 student stands. They received briefings on the significance of the diverse innovations. Mr. Thakwani expressed excitement about the students' remarkable creations.
Some dignitaries commended the school authorities for elevating STEAM education standards. Dr. Seema Nair, the headmistress of DPSI Ghana, lauded the students for their positive response to the theme. Officials of DPSI Ghana expressed interest in organizing an inter-school science exhibition involving schools in the sub-region.
