Asantehene graces son’s graduation at DPS International

Delhi Private School (DPS) International held a prestigious graduation ceremony on Saturday, June 21, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the lives of its 2025 graduating class. The event was made even more remarkable with the presence of a royal guest — His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, who delivered an inspiring keynote address.

The Asantehene, revered not only as the traditional ruler of the Ashanti Kingdom but also as a respected advocate for education and youth empowerment, graced the occasion in a display of both royalty and fatherly pride, as one of the graduates was none other than his own son. In his address, the Asantehene urged the students to pursue excellence with humility, discipline, and a sense of purpose.

“Education is not just the accumulation of knowledge, but a tool to transform lives, communities, and nations,” he said. “As you step into the next chapter of your journey, let your values guide your ambitions.”

The ceremony, held on the school’s lush Accra campus, was attended by the CEO of B5 Plus and Director of DPS Mr. Mukesh V. Thakwani, his wife Mrs. Tanya Thakwani and two sons who also graduated from DPS International a few years ago, the former President of the Republic of Ghana Mr. John Agyekum Kuffuor, dignitaries, proud families, faculty, and alumni. It featured speeches from school headmistress Dr. Seema Nair and Mr. Mukesh Thakwani, the outgoing head boy who happens to be the son of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, as well as the outgoing head girl.

There were numerous displays of talent, ranging from musical performances to dance performances, as well as a formal presentation of certificates to the graduates.

Principal Dr. Seema Nair, along with the Director Mr. Mukesh V. Thakwani, expressed their gratitude to the Asantehene for honouring the school with his presence.
“It is a historic moment for DPS International. Having His Majesty here not only motivates our students but reinforces our belief in the power of quality education rooted in cultural pride and global vision.”

This year’s graduating class includes students from diverse backgrounds, many of whom have secured placements at top universities across the world with examples being Nana Kwame Kyeretwieh Osei Tutu who has been admitted to the Wesleyan University in the USA, Yeji Kim who is also attending to the Wesleyan University, Kezia Ewuradjoa Nkrumah admitted to Drexel University, Shrirang Lokesh Chandankhede admitted to the Eindhoven university of Netherlands, Joao Eduard Amorin admitted to the University of Bristol, amongst many others.

The event concluded with a standing ovation for the graduates and a heartfelt photo session with the Asantehene, leaving behind a sense of pride and inspiration that will be remembered for years to come.
