Nairobi Enterprises Limited (NEL) was established in Nairobi, Kenya in 1978. The company is one of the major and leading distributors of medical equipment and medical consumables, veterinary products, surgicals and pharmaceuticals in the East and Central African region. As a one stop medical shop, Nairobi Enterprises Limited uses its inhouse expertise and collaborates with organizations and individuals that are keen to transform the healthcare industry with technology and medicine. Using the legal design process, NEL helps its clients ideate, test concepts and equipments, as well as implement viable solutions based on their requirements. The company’s vision is to be the medical equipments and consumables provider of choice, not only in Kenya, but also within the whole East and Central African region and beyond. Nairobi Enterprises Limited is committed to delivering quality products with a focus to guarantee excellent service to its clientele. As part of its mission, NEL focuses on providing affordable and good quality healthcare products and services, as well as state of the art medical equipments. Some of its products include wheelchairs for both children and adults, physical therapy hospital beds, walking frames, crutches, oxygen concentrators and oncology drugs, with an aim to fulfill medical demands of hospital needs. Nairobi Enterprises Limited boasts a team of fully trained experts to provide its clients the required support, maintenance and repair of equipments.
In a recent interview, NEL’s Managing Director Raju Dhanani also mentioned a new area of focus: a turnkey solution for hospitals ranging from construction to equipping. “NEL is currently building a hospital in the city center of Nairobi and we have been contracted to build another hospital on a turnkey basis. This is a major change but we have a young and dynamic team in charge of this. Nairobi Enterprises Limited has put up money for one hospital already on our own and the second one does not belong to NEL but we have been contracted to do it. We saw that there was a need. This will be the only hospital in the city center of Nairobi, as all the other hospitals are in the suburbs, such as Aga Khan in Parklands and Nairobi Hospital in Hurlingham. It will cater to the lowest end of the market. The hospital will be ready about four months from now. It will be a big success. This project has taken us to a different level. In three to four years’ time, if it does well, we will plan for new units. We have scope of expansion there. Today, we already have a society that has pledged to take up some shares in the hospital. In the future, if we do two, three, or four hospitals of that size, we will not have to look for a market, NEL will have a market by itself”, he said.
