One of the main economic concerns for Kuwait is the public spending on salaries and wages. Kuwait has the highest public salaries and wages in the GCC, after they were subject to numerous increases in the aftermath of the global financial crisis of 2008.
Al-Humaidhi argues that the salaries and wages component of the budget increased by 400% during the last decade and is unsustainable to continue. Finally, in the next ten years, Al-Humaidhi adds "we will have 350,000 Kuwaitis seeking jobs. So, if no jobs are found for those people, we will have a severe social problems in the future."
