“The Kuwaiti culture has had entrepreneurs for hundreds of years. My grandfather, great grandfather, and father were all entrepreneurs,” says Mohammed Jaffar, Deputy Chairman & CEO of Faith Capital Holding, Board Member in Kuwait London Company.
“Our strength is in food manufacturing and distribution. We are very focused on our own brands and on our third-party partners. That business continued to perform extremely well for us. People have moved from the traditional nuclear family, or the Kuwaiti version, and eating in the house to eating out of the home. “KAPICO Group is a holding family group between two families. The Al-Ghannam family started with my father along with his two brothers, Ahmed and Yusuf. In 1950, they bought a small shop for used spare parts,” says Ahmed A. Al-Ghannam, Chairman of KAPICO Group Holding.
“Al-Yousifi was established in 1955 by my father. He took the agency of National, which is now Panasonic. We have especially grown after the 1991 liberation. Until 1994 or 1995, we were number one in electronics in Kuwait. We were only concentrating on Panasonic at that time, because the deal between us and Japan was to not have other brands in our showroom,” says Adel Easa Al-Yousifi, Senior Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Al-Yousifi Group.
“We are participating in many sectors, such as construction, roads, oil, bridges, and infrastructure. We participate in any projects announced through the CTC. The value of the projects varies for each sector. The sectors with the greatest value are roads and bridges, followed by the oil sector, construction, building, and lastly, other divisions,” says Dr. Nabeel Abdul Haleem Ali, Consultant to Chairman for Shareholders Affairs at Combined Group.
“My company is called Orchid Real Estate. We are active and operate in local and international residential and commercial real estate sectors. I am also the chairman of Jood Gulf Holding Company,” says Nouria Al-Neama, Vice Chairman and MD of Orchid Real Estate.
Al-Yousifi Group would like to push the air conditioning and firefighting sector as there is a large market for construction in Kuwait.
The aim of the newly-established Faith Capital Holding is to grow local businesses into GGC businesses that have branches across the six countries in the Gulf, by the means of ethical business.
“We started operations in 1992, and have been running for 25 years. We provide a combination of government contracts, private camps, and full life support for clients, which includes housing, laundry, catering, housekeeping, as well as occasional transportation.”
