Guiding the Future: How DPS International Ghana Prepares Students for Tomorrow’s Careers

The interview with Alberta Badu, Career Counsellor at DPS International Ghana, sheds light on how the school is preparing students for future careers in an evolving, technology-driven world. Alberta explains that the Career Department uses six different assessments, including personality and aptitude tests, to help students identify their strengths, interests, and potential career paths.

Beyond assessments, students are given the opportunity to gain hands-on exposure through internships in fields like engineering, biology, or other areas aligned with their results. This approach helps students make informed decisions about their future and gain real-world experience before committing to a career path.

With the rapid rise of AI and other technological advances, Alberta emphasises the importance of preparing students for emerging career fields. DPSI actively encourages students to pursue specialised IT courses in areas such as cybersecurity, data analysis, software engineering, and artificial intelligence, helping them build skills that are highly relevant in the global job market.

While some parents remain hesitant or unfamiliar with AI and its opportunities, students themselves are curious, eager, and motivated to explore these new frontiers. Alberta highlights that access to information has empowered students to pursue their interests with confidence.

Finally, she notes that the Career Department’s mission extends beyond academics. By combining course guidance, extracurricular activities, and real-world experiences, DPSI ensures that students become well-rounded individuals prepared to thrive in both traditional and emerging industries.
