Maxwell Wahome, Group Managing Director of Longhorn Publishers PLC, expresses his interest in partnering with companies well established in the education technology space, as well as companies that develop advanced and exciting learning platforms and content across Africa.

“In terms of education technology, our vision is to become the leader in terms of innovative learning solutions in Africa. When you talk about innovation, digital channels are just facilitating. The content remains the fundamental. We are looking at companies that are well established in education technology, developing advanced learning platforms, and coming in with more exciting ways of delivering the content. We are building such capacity from here, but it will take us a much longer time to get to that level of skill. The company we are looking for does not have to be from a francophone area because we are looking at education across Africa. We need partners who are already a few strides ahead in terms of innovative learning content. You will find them mostly in Europe and the Americas. We are looking at partnerships in terms of joint ventures or even acquiring part of our digital business. There is so much we can do in digital in this market and it remains a huge growth area. In the US, the companies that have stopped printing books are now going fully digital. It is only a matter of time before we get to that level in Africa. We need to be getting ready for that kind of market”, says Maxwell Wahome.
