Newroz Telecom Group: Newroz’s Case

Newroz group is a regional telecom group. Allai Newroz Telecom is a shareholding company with local and international investors. Furthermore, Newroz Telecom holds shares in other companies and projects.

Newroz Telecom started operations in 2005 by partnering up with the Ministry of Telecommunications and using their infrastructure. At that time the Ministry at that time did not have fiber optics and all the exchanges were very old.

The final arrangement included Newroz Telecom having a 70% share of the company, while the government had a 30% share of the company with some other investors controlling minority shares.

Newroz Telecom agreed to a 20-year contract with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) with a specific agreement with the Ministry of Telecommunications. 

Afterwards Newroz Telecom signed the contract under the investment law legislation in Kurdistan.
