The oldest hotel in Libya had welcome many celebrities in the past, including Sophia Loren, Marilyn Monroe, Mohammed Ali, Bob Hope or even Frank Sinatra. “No one was allowed in, Libyan or otherwise if they weren’t wearing a blazer and tie. It was a fruitful time for Libyans, it was beautiful,” explains Anas M. Tarsin.
Al Waddan Hotel in Tripoli was was built in the 1930s which makes it the oldest hotel in Libya. “Libya held a Grand Prix in the 1930s, but when people came from Europe and the west they had no place to stay and so Al Waddan Hotel and Casino was built,” recounts Anas M. Tarsin, General Manager of Al Waddan Hotel Tripoli.
