Ihab El Fouly, CEO of Balsamee, talks about the company’s cloud based electronic health records. Balsamee is a digital healthcare services provider based in Saudi Arabia, amongst other countries.

“Balsamee is going from a central virtual health record. These are electronic health records that are cloud based and are the ownership of the patient themselves. It allows for a very high level of flexibility and integration with lots of partners within the community. Based on the visual health record and the basic information there, we are providing an “awareness module” providing articles, providing health notifications, providing a lot of information through different ways such as live streaming sessions, chats, blogs, according to the patient or the individual interest and according to the information in the individual’s health record. The more that the individual interacts with the platform, the more they interact intelligently through AI applications to understand the interests, behavior, and the points of concern and would feed more awareness information and more interesting knowledge to the patient. This is a very important step because through this you can introduce many services and start to stimulate certain behavior. The second point is the connectivity of the IoT, the Internet of Things. For example, we can connect many different sensors such as sleep trackers, glucose meters, blood pressure meters, scales to follow up on weight loss, oxygen saturation, especially for COVID, and so on. These things are connected seamlessly through Bluetooth into the application to the virtual health record and according to the workflow and the business model can be connected to general practitioners or caregivers that would provide the support remotely or provide suggestions or care plans remotely to the patients and the individuals”, says Ihab El Fouly.
