On Wednesday, the Chairman of MTN Uganda, Charles Mbire, donated 2886 kilograms of maize flour and 3015 kilograms of beans to the Kabale COVID-19 task force. The donation was meant to support vulnerable people in Kabale, a district in the Western Region of Uganda. These included people living with HIV/AIDS who are getting their antiviral drugs at the Kamukira Health Centre IV in Kabale Municipality, as well as people with disabilities around the health centre.

During the handover of the food to the vulnerable people, the Kabale Municipality Mayor, Sentaro Emmanuel Byamugisha, said that the donation was meant for vulnerable families and people with disabilities, who no longer work due to the lockdown. He said that through the district task force, the request for the food was majorly meant to cater for people getting their ARVs (antiretrovirals) at Kamukira Health Centre to help them and boost their immune system.

Sentongo Emmanuel, one of the people living with HIV/AIDS, appreciated the efforts by the boss of MTN Uganda, Charles Mbire, for remembering them in the hard times. He added that he has been feeling weak whenever he would take his drug without taking a meal. He added that the donation was timely and thanked Mbire for always being there for the vulnerable people.
