Falcon Security: Professional Security Services in Iraq
ERBIL: Peshraw Majid Agha, owner and founder of Falcon Security Ltd., is an Iraqi citizen from Erbil in northern Iraq, the territory commonly known as Kurdistan. He attended University in Erbil and graduated in 1987 with a degree in mathematics. He is fluent in Arabic, Kurdish, Swedish, and English. In 1988 he began working with the Kurdish Democratic Party (KDP) against the oppressive Hussein regime.
After working with the political arm of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in Europe, Peshraw Agha returned to Erbil in February 2003 to help coordinate the role of the Peshmerga who were working with the United States Special Forces to overthrow the repressive regime of Saddam Hussein. Following the successful ouster of the former dictator and with the new U.S. led Coalition Provincial Government in control, Peshraw worked with Hushiar Zebari to develop security plans for the developing Iraqi government infrastructure.
In July of 2003, the Ministry of Municipal and Public Works asked Peshraw to become the Security Advisor to the Minister. In this role, Peshraw was responsible for establishing security and intelligence for the 45,000 Ministry workers at over 60 locations all over Iraq, with 19 sites in Baghdad alone. His next security job was working with a U.S. company to provide security for a joint project between a private company (Washington Group International) and the US Government for the construction of 250 kilometers of power lines in the Baiji and Haditha regions.
In May 2004, Falcon Security was licensed by the Iraqi Ministry of Trade as an independent private company, and in June 2004, just one month later, Falcon Security was awarded the U.S. Government contract for the Al Kasik military base—the first training base established for the newly reconstituted Iraqi Army! This was the first U.S. Government Security contract awarded to an Iraqi company!
After establishing itself as a top-notch, professional security company on this initial contract, other U.S. Government contracts followed. Falcon provided the perimeter security of the Abu Ghuraib Warehouse and Distribution Center in Baghdad, a sprawling complex with multiple warehouses, barracks loading areas and several entry control points. Falcon held this contract for over six years without a single security breach. At mid-point, this contract was expanded to include a second warehouse and distribution center in Basra, which was also awarded to Falcon Security. Falcon also had the contract with Public Warehousing Company to provide convoy security for all the supplies and materials delivered to Iraqi Police and Military Units nationwide, an enormous undertaking involving hundreds of trained guards, armored vehicles and sophisticated communications and tracking capabilities.
In Mosul, Falcon was awarded the contract to provide PSD and Convoy security for the U.S. Army, transporting dignitaries, senior military officials, cash and other high value items to locations across northern Iraq. Falcon performed on this contract for almost five years without a single security incident.
In Baghdad, Falcon Security was awarded the U.S. Government Contract to provide PSD protection for the judges who were officiating at the trials of some of the former members of the regime of Saddam Hussein, a contact that Falcon held until its completion after 18 months. Falcon also provided residential security in downtown Baghdad for a myriad of private companies to include Fox News, Cable News Network (CNN), Bearing Point, Secure Global Distribution, Custer Battles, Public Warehousing Company, Northeast Engineering, Triple Canopy, and Vega.
Since the withdrawal of the U.S. Government forces, Falcon has been providing security for numerous private companies and foreign government organizations from such countries as Kuwait, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Malaysia and Turkey. Currently, Falcon is providing security in the Oil and Gas Industry for several large international companies, to include Hess Oil, Hunt Oil, Marathon Oil, Total Oil, Repsol (Spain) and Petronas Carigali (Malaysia).
Today, Falcon Security is one of the largest security companies in Iraq. Licensed by the Iraqi Minister of Interior and the Kurdistan Regional Government, and with offices and operations centers in Baghdad, Basra, Erbil, Kirkuk, Dohuk and Sulaymaniyah, Falcon is in a strategic position to provide experienced professional security services anywhere in the nation of Iraq.
