Total E&P Uganda B.V.

France Oil and Gas Total E&P Uganda is an indirectly wholly-owned subsidiary of Total S.A. It is an oil and gas exploration and production company, founded as the operator of Exploration Areas 1 and 1A following the discovery of commercially viable oil resources in the Albertine Region. The upstream company started operations in February 2012 in Murchison Falls National Park where the majority of their exploration and production activities are based. In August 2016, Total E&P was awarded three production licences for Exploration Area 1 of the Albertine Graben region for the Ngiri, Jobi Rii and Gunya fields.

CNOOC Uganda

China Oil and Gas CNOOC International is one of the largest oil and gas companies in Uganda’s energy sector and owns one-third interests in each of Exploration Areas (EA) EA1/1A, EA2 and Kingfisher. The company partners with Total E&P Uganda (33.3%) and Tullow Oil (33.3%). CNOOC International operates the Kingfisher production license. These blocks, located in the Lake Albert Rift Basin, are in one of the most promising basins for oil and gas resources in Africa.

Tullow Uganda Operations PTY

United Kingdom Oil and Gas Tullow entered into three Ugandan exploration licences in 2004 following the acquisition of Energy Africa. The Group added further equity and operatorship to the licences in the Lake Albert Rift Basin when it acquired Hardman Resources. In 2006, Tullow began to get encouraging exploration results and flow tests from some initial wells. Further significant discoveries and appraisal success led in 2009 to the basin development commercial volume threshold being exceeded. Following further success, contingent resources are now estimated to be around 1.7 billion barrels of oil.
