Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (AITI-KACE)

Ghana IT This is Ghana’s first Advanced Information Technology Institute (AITI) that aims at helping to stimulate growth in the ICT sector in the country and the sub region at large.
It was established in 2003 as a partnership between the Government of Ghana and the Government of India. It is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for use by Ghanaians, West Africans and other nationals.
The center also houses West Africa’s first supercomputer. Its meeting and lecture rooms as well as the wireless network guarantee that the AITI can host close to 1,000 IT professionals, researchers, visitors and trainees at any given time. It currently works with institutions located in Africa, Asia, Australia, Latin America, Europe and the United States.
The center prides itself as having a world of professionals, who are committed to the free flow of knowledge and the use of technology to develop human resources required for the development of Ghana and Africa through ICT training.
It has a staff strength of about 35 from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Some of its projects include i2Cap and Project Kane and a youth-driven project, using ICT as an innovating tool in education to name a few, were coordinated by women.
AITI-KACE as an ICT training centre has mastered the art of training students in software development as a composite process involving planning, implementation, testing, deployment and maintenance.
It believes in ‘one size does-not-fit-all approaches’ of software development training. For that reason, its training focuses on personal creativity and dynamism to bring out the potential of each and every student.
Some of its systems include: AITI-HMS (a hospital management system), AITI-HRMS (a human resource system), AITI-LMS (a library management system) and AITI-WRMS (a hospital waiting room management system).

Ghana Technology University College (GTUC)

Ghana IT Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) is a fully-fledged telecommunications university that traces its roots to the colonial days of Ghana.
It started as the flagship Training Centre of the defunct Ghana Telecom used as a Royal Air Force (RAF) Training School during the Second World War.
It was subsequently handed to Cable and Wireless to train Telecommunications Technicians for British West African Countries (i.e., Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and The Gambia).
The Training Centre progressed rapidly through deregulation and privatization to become the main source of teaching and certification in Telecommunications Engineering for Ghana Telecom employees as well as other institutions in Ghana and West Africa.
In 2005, Ghana Telecom’s management upgraded the infrastructure and equipment to modern standards in preparation for converting the training centre into a university for telecommunication and multimedia engineering & information technology.
It was finally accredited to offer university courses in ICT in 2006 and has since established five campuses throughout the country.
It currently runs nine undergraduate programs and 15 graduate programs. Courses offered include diplomas in Telecom Engineering, BSc Information Technology, BSc Computer Engineering, BSc Informatics, BSc Telecom Engineering, BSc Mobile Internet Communication, MSc Telecom Management and MSc Telecom Engineering.

Ghana IT The Accra Institute of Technology (AIT), popularly known as AIT, is an independent technology-focused research university that is based in Ghana’s capital city, Accra. It is committed to academic excellence, cutting-edge research and research and development work.
The university is modeled along the lines of internationally recognized institutes of technologies such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the California Institute of Technology both ranked in the top 10 of the world ranking of universities.
