“Before the inception of GhIPSS, there was no interoperability between banks in Ghana, this means that if you were with Bank A it was virtually impossible to make transfers to a customer who banked with Bank B,” explains Archie Hesse, the CEO of GhIPSS (Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems).
