Robert Lee, CEO of Bahrain Bay, talks about Bahrain Bay’s latest developments, strategy and other important topics.
Because of the current difficult market conditions, Lee describes his strategy for the project: “In terms of what we are preparing to do at Bahrain Bay, we have two major developments that will be ready for opening in 2014. So we are preparing ourselves for various public areas. One of the big benefits is that the King Faisal highway that goes around the entire Bahrain Bay is open for public access. Because of this, people have discovered Bahrain Bay. It’s almost like it was the biggest secret that people would say “Hey, there is something going on across the water,” but they couldn’t get to it. Now it’s open and the flyover is open and we have seen more and more people coming down,” explains Lee.
Commenting on the interest from investors in land, Lee says: “We have 65% of the land that’s been sold and they still need to be guided through the next phase of development. We are helping many of our partners with what they are doing. You can sell all the land and that’s great but you actually have to decide what it is you are going to do with the land. Until you unlock that solution, you can’t move forward.”
