The Minister of Agriculture of  Côte d’Ivoire, Mamadou Sangafowa Coulibaly, explains the newest National Agricultural Investment Program.

The program aims to increase the level of investment from 1.7% to 10% and later to 15% of the national budget. The agriculture sector employs about two-thirds of the work force.

The national investment program itself will amount to about one billion dollars over the next five years. The investment program will stimulate a growth of 9% and will effectively fight against poverty. It is important to mention that three out of four people who escape poverty in Côte d’Ivoire do so thanks to the agricultural industry.
