Marcopolis ranked the top business leaders in Ghana. The ranking is based on an executive survey with the top businessmen as part of the business report on Ghana. Madame Kate Quartey-Papafio is No. 1 and Dr Kwabena Duffuor II, at No. 2, is the second top businessman in Ghana.

Most Powerful Businessmen in Ghana

Marcopolis ranked the top business leaders in Ghana. The ranking is based on an executive survey with the top businessmen as part of the business report on Ghana. Madame Kate Quartey-Papafio is No. 1 and Dr Kwabena Duffuor II, at No. 2, is the second top businessman in Ghana.

The research team asked the interviewees, who they think are the top business personalities in Ghana. The interviewees anonymously nominated a total of 15 leaders.

Out of the 15 personalities nominated by our interviewees, 9 leaders were a common vote amongst them, with 5 of the top businessmen standing out from the group and emerging as the leading business figures in Ghana.

The List

#1 Kate Quartey-Papafio is the founder and CEO of one of the leading manufacturers of electrical cables in Ghana: Reroy Cables Limited and Reroy Energy Limited which together make up Reroy Group.

#2 Dr Kwabena Duffuor II, son of Kwabena Duffuor, the former Finance Minister of Ghana, is currently acting as CEO of Ghana’s leading indigenous bank, UniBank.

#3 Bhagwan Khubchandani’s philosophy is to sell more for less and as such Melcom Group has become the most reliable name and the customers’ first choice in Ghana.

#4 Dr Elikem Tamaklo is the Managing Director of Nyaho Medical Centre in Accra, Ghana, and he is the man spear heading Ghana’s healthcare sector today.

#5 Leeford Quarshie is the Managing Director of La Villa Boutique Hotel, Accra, Ghana, a wonderful, luxury hospitality facility in the heart of downtown Accra.

#6 Ebenezer Asante is now Vice President of the Southern and East Africa and Ghana Regional office of MTN Group Limited after having served as CEO for the last two years.

#7 Lucy Quist is the former CEO at Airtel Ghana; she was the first Ghanaian woman to lead a multinational telecommunications company.

#8 With over a decade of experience in the financial sector, Mike Nyinaku founded The Beige Group, an investment management firm that specializes in establishing new businesses or investing in already existing businesses.

#9 Prince Kofi Amoabeng is a symbol of transformation and entrepreneurship, having gone from being a military Captain to pursuing a highly prosperous profession in finance. He is an inspiration to many Ghanaian entrepreneurs as he has gone from humble beginnings to huge success.

Our interviewees considered a number of Ghanaians, however chose their nominees based on their influence and power in the country. Their innovation, inspiration, wide-range endeavors, and philanthropy have been recognized by the business world. Their strong work ethic and genuine impact on the Ghanaian people have landed them on the list of Marcopolis’ top businessmen in the country.
