Sustainable development is a very important subject that needs to be integrated into the country's strategy. In less than a century, the effects of economic growth and agricultural development left Côte d'Ivoire with less than 2.5 million hectares of primary forest out of the original 16 million hectares. The forest heritage was practically decimated.
Preserving natural resources and rehabilitating them is now a priority. Preservation will contribute to sustainability.
