Interview with Júlio Pedro Sitoe, Administrator of World Despachos
Could you briefly introduce the company?
World is a 4 year old company specialized in customs clearance services. We have many clients and we try to offer them a difference in terms of fastness, reliability and flexibility when compared to other companies. We track all imports from the beginning to their final destination, taking care of everything concerning finances, CPI, exemptions or other matters for the client. Besides, if the client cannot pay right away, we trust the client to pay after the work is completed, which is not something usual around here and that makes a big difference. So I would say that we are the solution to clients that work in these import/export markets.
In Mozambique the market flows well, and exports and imports are growing.
What are the main countries of your clients?
Our main clients come from Italy, Portugal, Germany, India, Japan and Brazil.
Your presence in the airport provides you many advantages, right?
Of course. At the beginning I thought of opening the company in the city center, but then I realized that everything starts at the airport. I fought hard and managed to get an office here and since I am the only one, it makes World Despachos faster than other competitors.
Can you discuss the development of imports and exports in Mozambique?
Mozambique brings many benefits for national and international businessmen. There are a few political difficulties, but the market flows well, and exports and imports are growing. We are a good country to invest. Moreover, we are developing due to mineral and energy resources, as well as tourism.
What type of products and sectors import and export the most?
We work with clinics and hospitals, as well as factories that work with coal, chocolate, yogurts, cheese and other perishables. We take care of all the authorizations and documents to import these products to the country.
Where do you see your company in two years from now?
We want to grow and expand, introducing technologies to help us reach the world, generating quality work and making a difference. That’s my goal.
In order to internationalize, you’d like to meet and greet some investors?
I’d like to have investors, as long as they work in the same field as me: imports and exports as well as logistics. Basically, these would be investors that could help me build a worldwide connection with clients and partners.
What are the main challenges in this field?
Trying to make my company and work known internationally. I would also like to have qualified employees in all sectors, because the world is demanding and that is what we are missing in order to develop this field.
