MTN Uganda is the largest telecom company in Uganda, with 11.2 million subscribers, accounting for 55 percent market share, as of 30 June 2017. By 31 December 2019, its customer base had increased to 12.6 million customers. MTN Uganda is a subsidiary of MTN Group, a multinational telecommunications group connecting approximately 232 million people in 22 countries across Africa and the Middle East. The telecom company entered the Ugandan trade in 1998. Its headquarters are located on Jinja Road, in the Kampala Central Division. MTN Uganda has been on the biggest taxpayer in Uganda for many years.
