Tunku Dato’ Ahmad Burhanuddin talks about the major challenges for the tourism industry in Malaysia.
He says, “Typically the major challenge is external competition. There are a lot of destinations around the world. So we have to make sure our product is world class. Manpower is another challenge. We have to find the right people to manage and run our parks. Staff training is very important. However, we are lucky that there are many Malaysians who have been working in this field around the world. We are trying to make it attractive for them to come back home to work. We have a large number of English speakers in the industry. This makes tourists comfortable because communication is easy here.”
