Jean Kacou Diagou is Marcopolis’ #1 most powerful business leader in Ivory Coast. He is mostly known for being the Founder of NSIA Group, whose adventure started in 1995 with the creation of a non-life insurance company. In 1996, NSIA acquired the life and non-life subsidiaries of AGF (Assurances Générales de France) in Ivory Coast. Through organic and external growth, NSIA Group built its presence in 12 countries of Central and Western Africa. The year 2006 was a turning point for NSIA, which decided to diversify its activities by embarking in banking, and acquired BIAO (Banque Internationale de l’Afrique de l’Ouest), the Ivorian subsidiary of the Belgian-Dutch group Fortis. This move enabled NSIA not only to have its own banking network but also to multiply its territorial presence via BIAO’s agencies. At the end of 2014, NSIA Group was well-established in West and Central Africa. The group reported a turnover of 195.7 billion FCFA (362.6 million USD), 149.2 billion FCFA (276.5 million USD) of which came from its insurance activity. As of now, the group has a network of 25 subsidiaries and 1700 staff members.

Jean Kacou Diagou is the former President of CGECI, the General Confederation of Enterprises of Côte d’Ivoire, a union between professional groups, trade unions and professional associations of industry, trade, services and agriculture. He was replaced by Jean-Marie Ackah in November 2016.

Mr Diagou is also President of FOPAO (Fédération des Organizations Patronales de l’Afrique de l’Ouest), the Federation of West Africa Employer’s Associations.
