Dr Daniel Asare on Euracare’s Rise as Ghana’s Emerging Centre of Excellence in Specialised Healthcare
The opening of the interview introduces Euracare through the perspective of its Chief Executive, Dr Daniel Asare, who outlines the institution’s evolution and long-term ambitions.
Dr Asare explains that Euracare has grown from a single diagnostic centre in Cantonments into a network of medical facilities across Accra and other parts of Ghana. At the centre of this expansion is its modern multi specialist hospital in Adjiringanor, which functions as the hub of the group’s operations. Other branches refer complex cases to this flagship facility, enabling Euracare to provide comprehensive and coordinated care. He also highlights an important milestone in the organisation’s history: its transition from foreign ownership to becoming a fully Ghanaian-owned healthcare provider, reinforcing its national identity and commitment to local development.
Looking ahead, Dr Asare describes Euracare’s strategic direction as one focused on becoming a centre of excellence in highly specialised medical fields such as interventional radiology and cardiology. The hospital aims to reduce Ghana’s dependence on overseas medical travel by delivering advanced treatments locally, an objective that has become more urgent since the COVID period exposed the risks of relying on foreign healthcare systems.
Euracare’s broader mission is therefore both medical and economic. By strengthening local capacity, investing in advanced technologies, and collaborating with international specialists, the institution seeks to ensure that Ghanaians can access world-class treatment within their own country. At the same time, this vision positions Euracare as a future regional healthcare leader capable of contributing to improved medical delivery beyond Ghana’s borders.
