Côte d’Ivoire Foreign Policy: Emerging Country by 2020 and Double Digit Growth

The integration of Côte d’Ivoire happens through 2 groups. The West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA ) comprises 8 countries – including Côte d’Ivoire – and was created in 1962.

Daniel Kablan Duncan shares his views on the outlook for Côte d’Ivoire. Côte d’Ivoire should be an emerging country by 2020 – that’s the target. To reach this target, we need to implement political and economic reforms. The country must be more democratic so that more people can take part in national growth.

We want to achieve peace and security in this country. Once this is done, we will reach our target of a two-digit number growth rate by 2015 and we will be an emerging country by 2020. This is important for the sub region as a whole.

Out of the 22 million inhabitants of Côte d’Ivoire, 26% are foreigners. If our growth increases, these workers will be able to send money to their families in their country and help their own region develop.
