Interview with Jessy Sitoe, Executive Director of ECS (Expresso Carga e Serviços)
What are the different type of services that you propose to your client companies?
ECS (Expresso Carga e Serviços) is a company founded in 2008, with 100% of national capital, offering air freight and road freight services, with a team of flexible and dynamic employees. Our company is present all over the national market and we have offices in all the national airports in the provincial capitals, such as Nampula, Pemba, Lichinga, Tete, Beira, Quelimane and Inhambane.
Is that type of national coverage common to all the companies which offer these services?
No. We set the difference precisely because of that, we are strategically present in these locations and for that matter we manage to load our clients’ cargo with easiness and quickness.
We work with big companies and institutions which are looking for a good and reliable service. This shows we can handle your cargos safely.
What are your main competitive advantages?
We also offer door-to-door services, which differentiate us from all the other national companies, and we reach the destination faster than others since we have people as well as a fleet of cars in the provinces.
What type of transportation do you have?
We have trucks that can load around 40 tons of cargo. In Maputo, we have 25 trucks, and in the provinces we have 1 small car and a truck of 10 tons.
DHL and TNT, among others, also use your service to reach some locations. Can you give us an example of a partnership?
Well, there are many companies who want to distribute hospital equipment to areas that don’t even have roads yet, and since we don’t work only with big companies but also with small clients, we do that service. We reach these areas, therefore gaining our clients trust. We don’t aim only at big companies, but also to SME’s and small entrepreneurs, who also need this service.
Are you open to other types of partnerships with international companies?
Of course. Nationally, in Southern Africa, we can reach most of the places, but internationally we need to create partnerships with other companies, in order for our company to be known abroad, helping us to grow.
Who are your main clients?
We work with the Bank of Mozambique, Banco Terra, Millennium Bim and BCI, which are big banks here. We also work with MCEL, the biggest cellphone company in Mozambique, TDM (Mozambique Telecommunications), the Tax Authority, the Ministry of Health, etc. These are big companies and institutions which are looking for a good and reliable service. Therefore this shows we are trustworthy and that we can handle your cargos safely.
Where do you see the company two years from now?
At the moment we are investing in promotion and sales, so, in two years, I would like to be connected nationally and internationally to other companies and countries. Maintaining this dynamic team that works as a family, as well as attain new partnerships.
