Liew Kee Sin is ranked as Forbes’ 35th richest man in Malaysia, with an estimated net worth of 155 million dollars. Sin has come a long way from his humble beginnings, when his father was employed as a truck driver.
Sin studied economics at Universiti Malaya, which led him to start his career as a banker, and after gaining five years of experience, joined the real estate company, SP Seti, which specializes in investing and developing properties.
Unlike many entrepreneurs in Malaysia, Sin did not have any family relationships with anyone at the company and was forced to work his way up to success. While there, Sin began as Director, and later became CEO until 2014. Sin has an 11.3% stake in the company.
SP Setia started off as a construction company, but was transformed into a prominent property developer when Sin introduced the company to Pusat Bandar Puchong and Bukit Indah Ampang, two projects that changed the face of SP Setia.
Sin has won many honors and awards that serve as a testimony to his exceptional leadership. Some of these include the Corporate Executive of the Year award, which was presented by AsiaMoney Magazine, and the Property Man of the Year award, which was presented by Fiabci (International Real Estate Federation).
From a small-time township construction company to a leading real estate developer, SP Setia’s portfolio, today, includes townships, luxury communities, high-rise residencies and commercial developments, and many more. The group has expanded into Australia, Singapore, and China, all this made possible by the innovative thinking and steadfastness of Liew Kee Sin.
