Jordan’s industrial sector is a central pillar of its economy. Manufacturing contributed $6bn to the country’s estimated GDP of $35.7bn in 2014. The major industries in Jordan include phosphate fertilizers and minerals, petroleum products, food processing, metal products, cement and building materials, cigarettes, animal feed and clothing. Additional industries include furniture, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, paints, plastics, paper and cardboard.

The industrial sector in Jordan is benefitting from the country’s integration in the World Trade Organisation, the ratification of the US Jordan Free Trade Agreement and the Euromed program. According to a study done by the Amman Chamber of Commerce, in 2014 407 million Jordanian dinars flower to the industrial sector.

Jordan Industry In 1952 Nuqul Brothers Company was founded in Jordan as a trade and import company for foodstuffs. The company has grown to become a worldwide corporation with a number of ventures in the Middle East. In 1958, Fine Hygienic Paper Company was established and it soon became a flagship company for hygienic paper products.
Over the years the group has expanded regionally and today it has various investments in different industries worldwide. Operating under Nuqul group are Fine Hygienic Holding, the umbrella company for the group’s paper business, and Eagle Holding the group’s investment arm, managing diverse industries and investments in different economic sectors.

Manaseer Group

Jordan Industry Manaseer Group is a holding company established in 1999. The company began operating in international trade of chemical materials and fertilizers. The group then began to diversify and it began to operate in the service and industrial commercial sector, particularly in the light and heavy industries. After 2003 the company decided to expand further and it entered the food sector, the distribution of petroleum bi-products and mineral oils, the international trade in various materials (especially chemical fertilizers and materials), ready-mix concrete, information technology, iron and steel, cement and concrete products, the investment sector, crushers, compound fertilizers, and the cement industry. The Group currently employs more than 3,000 people in all its fields and across all its business activities. The group’s investments exceed 750 million Jordanian dinars.

Jordan Phosphates Mines Co.

Jordan Industry Jordan Phosphates Mines Co. is a public shareholding limited company established in 1949. Its current capital is 45 million Jordanian dinars. The company deals in mining and processing phosphate ore for fertilizers in Jordan. It is a pioneer in the industry and one of the leaders in its field. Jordan Phosphate Mines Company is the second largest exporter of phosphate in the world and is the sixth largest producer with a capacity exceeding 7 million tons per year. The company’s headquarters are in Amman whilst the company owns four mines in the centre and south of the country along with a Department of Research and Quality based in the city of Russaifa and an Industrial Complex in Aqaba. The company employs over 4,250 workers.

Arab Potash Company

Jordan Industry Arab Potash Company was established in 1956 and is the eighth largest potash producer in the world by volume of production and it is the only producer of potash in the Arab region. The company operates under a concession from the government of Jordan that gives it the exclusive right to extract, manufacture and market minerals from the Dead Sea until 2058. Arab Potash Company also invests in downstream and complementary industries including potassium nitrate, bromine and other derivatives. The company employs over 2,200 workers in its locations in Amman, Aqaba and Ghor Al Safi.

Al Hikma Pharmaceuticals

Jordan Industry Al Hikma Pharmaceuticals was established in 1978 in Amman as a company focused on establishing its brand in the Mena region. In the early 1990s, the group expanded beyond the MENA region and established injectable pharmaceutical operations in Portugal and it also acquired West-Ward Pharmaceuticals in the US. The group continued to expand in the US, Europe and the MENA region and is now a leading international player in the injectables sector.
Al Hikma develops, manufactures and markets a wide range of both branded and non-branded generic and in-licensed products. It is the fourth listed pharmaceutical company in the FTSE 250 and in December 2013, Hikma’s global team was made up of over 7,000 employees.

Al Nabil Company for Food Products

Jordan Industry Al Nabil was founded in 1945 and specialises in a range of frozen and chilled products that includes beef, chicken, lamb, turkey, fish, pastries, desserts and ready meals of all sorts of international cuisines. All of the products are 100% Halal and manufactured according to international standards and specifications.
All raw materials used are free from GMO and come from the finest approved suppliers. Nabil products are distributed throughout the local and international markets to hotels, restaurants, hospitals, universities, schools, cafes and airline companies as well as in the retail sector.
