Issiaka Fofana is the General Director of LONACI (Loterie Nationale de Côte d’Ivoire), Ivory Coast’s National Lottery. He was ranked as Marcopolis’ #9 most powerful business leader in the country.
LONACI is the first of its kind in Ivory Coast. Its mission is to make the country a destination to gambling and regulation that comes with a gambling industry. In 1970, by law, the National Lottery was created as a simple game with lottery tickets that was based off of a monthly drawing. Ivory Coast owns 80 percent of LONACI.
The company has provided the state and its citizens many benefits. As an example, more than 394 employees received wages in the budget of the company. There are now over 2,680 outlets across the country that employ nearly 3,330 people. Even during the Ivorian crisis between 2002 and 2011, the turnover has ranged between 30 and 35 billion CFA francs.
Issiaka Fofana is also the President of the African Lottery Association.
