Azman bin Haji Mokhtar, a Malaysian Sovereign Wealth Fund leader, is Managing Director of Khazanah Nasional, as well as Chairman of Iskandar Investment and Axiata Group. Furthermore, he holds many memberships as part of the Board of various companies, including Iskandar Development Authority.

Mokhtar attended Darwin College, University of Cambridge, where he graduated with distinction in M. Phil in Development Studies, and the International Islamic University in Malaysia. He went on to becoming a Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant and a Chartered Financial Analyst.

In the Mid-1990s, Mokhtar became a Director and Head of Research for Union Bank of Switzerland, located in Malaysia. He then moved on to work for Salomon Smith Barney and BinaFikir Bhd, before becoming a leader at Khazanah Nasional.

Performance Management and Delivery Unit (PEMANDU) is just one of the public service bodies Mokhtar serves on. Others include the Bumiputera Agenda Action Council and Governance Council of Malaysian Innovation Agency.

Under Mokhtar’s years of experience and leadership, Khazanah Nasional is striving to become the leading strategic investment house in the region.
