Jordan’s Top Telecoms
Jordan’s telecommunications sector is one of the most developed in the Middle East. It is a very progressive market having made 4G LTE services available in 2015. The country has benefited from 15 years of industry friendly policies and from a young population of digital consumers. By the end of 2014 mobile subscription had reached 11.1 million users which was a tremendous increase from just 3.13 million users in 2005. Jordan has seen consumers move towards a data driven mobile broadband market and competition in that market is intense between the main operators Zain Jordan, Orange Jordan and Umniah.
State support for the IT sector is strong; in 2010 the Jordanian government launched an early stage seed investment company to help support 500 new start-ups. It provides financial support for various start-up enterprises and has currently invested in 95 companies.
