Othman holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of La Trobe in Australia. He continued his Masters at the University of Queensland, also in Australia, and, while there, studied Political Economics.
Like other top leaders in Malaysia, Othman, too, has quite the extensive resume. He served as Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administration at the University of Malaya. He became involved in the government as the Deputy Minister of Energy, Telecommunication and Post, Deputy Minister of Finance, Minister of Youth and Sports, and Chief Minister of Johor.
Othman has served as the Chairman of Johor Corporation, Director of the Sime Darby Plantation, and now serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Board at Sime Darby.
The Sultan of Johor awarded Othman the Order of the Crown of Johor, an honor only given to individuals who meet three main criteria: loyalty, meticulous service, and diligence. He has also won the Seri Mahkota Johor medal and the Darjah Kebesaran Seri Paduka Mahkota Johor. Moreover, an award normally reserved for royalty, Othman was also bestowed the highest award in the State of Johor, DK.
Othman brings a lot to the table, including years of experience, and is well known for his notable accomplishments in the education and government sectors. Furthermore, he continues to take Sime Darby to greater heights.
