The capacity of our economy to absorb more Saudi talents is real, but we cannot only rely on the government, the private sector has a crucial role to play here. Until now, there has been a general belief that only the government is responsible for employment and job creation. But I believe that the government and the private sector are equally responsible.
Over the past decade, Saudi Arabia has emerged as one of the best places to do business in the Middle East. In its ranking “Ease of Doing Business” Index 2011, the World Bank ranked 11th out of 183 countries. Saudi Arabia has made significant progress by moving up to 11th place from the 67th place in the global ranking it occupied in 2005.
The Egyptian government is now focusing on small scale industries as a mean of economic and social development. The country’s private sector is dominated by a plethora of small businesses such as farmers, furniture makers or restaurant-owners.
The Egyptian economy passed through many political, social and security crises since January 2011.
