“Our drive has been to give what are called cutting costs initiatives. People running courses here used to spend millions of naira to book a flight, they spent a lot of money to get a visa and the course fees cost them a lot of money as well, thousands of dollars, they stay in a good hotel and it was all done overseas,” says Phillips Matthews, Senior Vice President (Americas/Africa) of PEM OFFSHORE GROUP.
“Polo and horse riding has been a passion of mine for years. I’ve been involved with the polo club for about twenty years. I have served on various committees and I am now the president of the club. “My perception of what is happening in the industry is that it is growing incredibly fast. I think it is almost growing too fast for the infrastructure to handle. I think that the population is demanding better quality hotels and the industry is starting to facilitate that,” says Anthony Shishler, MD of Fahrenheit Hospitality.
“For over 50 years we have been in the wheat milling business and in that time we have imported wheat from various countries to produce the raw material for various industries. For instance, the flour that we produce from wheat we supply to the bakery industry. We also supply flour to the biscuit industry. We supply flour to the pasta and noodle industries and we supply flour to the confectionary industry which is very important.”
“The group is quite diversified from various industries; we are opening new factories in different fields such as hospitality, real estate, industry and food beverage and quite a few more sectors that we will be entering as part of Eko Atlantic as well.”
“Thanks to the information we have received from international oil companies as well as the reconnaissance operators through the data that have been acquired by means of seismic survey we have realised that there is potential that we might be able to have oil and gas in our offshore areas.”
“Mikano started in 1991. We established our company as an importer of generators and the servicing and maintenance of generators. Three years later we were the first company to start bringing the technology of generator assembly into Nigeria.”
“I would like to see our group take its place as an infrastructure developer. The reason I say this is because we cannot grow an economy without having a robust infrastructure.”
