The elections for the new Board members of GPIC Labour Union were held in the presence of the Deputy Secretary-General of the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions, Ibrahim Hamad Abdullah. The election results were as follows: Yagoob Yusuf Mohamed (244 votes), Hamad Mohammed Al Thawadi (223 votes), Osama Salman Hassan (222 votes), Abdullah Hussein Abdullah (213 votes), Abdullah Saad Farhan (204 votes), Hamad Mohamed AlSubbaie (183 votes) and Hussein Jafar Mohammad Saleh (167 votes).

On this occasion, Mr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, the president of GPIC – a producer of Bahrain`s fertilizers, passed on the greetings of H.E Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Advisor to the H.H Prime Minister for Oil and Industrial Affairs and Company Chairman, who expressed his interest in all personnel issues and continues to provide all support and assistance to upgrade them. Mr. Jawahery also expressed his sincere congratulations on the re-election of the Board of the Labour Union, passing his commiserations to those who were not lucky in the elections. He also extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to the President and members of the Election Commission for their diligent and tireless efforts to organize the voting process in such professional and transparent manner.

For his part, Mr. Ali Al Kooheji, Chairman Election Committee, expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to Mr. Jawahery for his support and wise direction during the elections. Mr. Kooheji said that the employees of the union had turned up from six in the morning on election day to the headquarters of the ballot company to elect members of the Board of Directors and ensured that voting continued until five o’clock in the afternoon. The entire voting process was characterized by its smooth operation.

Mr. Ebrahim Hamad Abdullah, Deputy Secretary of the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions, expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the management of the company who had spared no effort to provide all necessary support to the union members in the company and had shown their understanding of the role of the trade union and their full cooperation with the Labour Union Board of Directors to promote team spirit among employees and management and to complement the evolution of the union. The management has also established the foundations of understanding and integration between them and their employees. Thanks were also given to the Electoral Commission for its supervision of the preparation and organization of elections and its commitment to ensure the well-organized and fair elections, which, thanks God, have produced a voting process with full transparency and success.

At the conclusion of his remarks, the Chairman of the Election Commission congratulated the members who became the winners and wished them success in the performance of their duties in the service of employees of the company and gave thanks to his colleagues in the Commission on Elections for the great efforts and outstanding success of this democratic event. He also extended his thanks and appreciation to Mr. Ebrahim Hamad Abdullah for his interest and presence in overseeing the election process.
