“Although I have been familiar with the institution for almost seven years, I did just arrive, so I am focusing on listening to ideas that people have and responding to suggestions that people are making,” says Dr. Earl (Tim) Sullivan, President of the American University of Kuwait (AUK)
“For many years, higher education here was dominated by Kuwait University, which is a large public institution. Only a few years ago, it was decided to add options for private universities that would offer different kinds of programs. The approach to education in Kuwait has generally been one with aim at the job market,” says Dr. Earl (Tim) Sullivan, President of the American University of Kuwait (AUK)
“In our sector, the investment sector, and through being a specialized, client-driven, asset management investment bank, our focus is on building and continuing to maintain our strong leadership position,” says Faisal Sarkhou, Chief Executive Officer of KAMCO.
“The economy here is highly dependent on oil, oil production, and oil prices, and it has a high correlation with the energy markets. We expect the Kuwait economy to grow between 2.5 to 3 percent, this year. But, it must be examined in the overall international context. The world economy is expected to grow at around 3 to 4 percent,” says Faisal Hasan, Chief Business Development Officer and Head of Investment Research Department at KAMCO.
“It is amazing when you go to an area and you build a dam, even if it is a small dam, the area will change because some dams according to the design will not only provide water for irrigation and drinking water but will provide electricity to the country,” says Abdulwahab Al-Bader, Director General of Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.
“55 years is a long time. So if you look at it from the beginning, we started with Arab countries and then moved on to non-Arab countries in Africa and Asia. You know what happened with the Arab Spring in different countries such as Syria, amongst others, where Kuwait Fund started with developmental aid, particularly in terms of building physical projects to enhance the economies of countries that we support,” says Abdulwahab Al-Bader, Director General of Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.
“My company is called Orchid Real Estate. We are active and operate in local and international residential and commercial real estate sectors. I am also the chairman of Jood Gulf Holding Company,” says Nouria Al-Neama, Vice Chairman and MD of Orchid Real Estate.
“C Club was established in 2005 and the concept behind it was to have not only a fitness facility but as well a social club where people can interact, meet, do business and so on. There is the fitness side and the social side,” says Abdullah Al Askari, Managing Director of C Club.
“We first thought of launching a personal training centre after seeing that clients of local gyms did not receive the care needed to achieve their health and fitness goals. The market was filled with fitness misconceptions and we needed to attend to them,” says Abdullah Al Askari, Managing Director of C Club.
