Michel de Spéville is a distinguished Mauritian entrepreneur and the founder of the Eclosia Group, a diversified conglomerate with interests spanning agro-industry, hospitality, commerce, education, and logistics. Born in 1935, de Spéville began his career as an accountant. In the 1960s, driven by his passion for animals and entrepreneurial spirit, he started a small-scale poultry farming venture after office hours. This modest endeavor laid the foundation for what would become the Eclosia Group, officially established in 1966 under the name Food & Allied Industries Ltd.

Under de Spéville’s visionary leadership, the group expanded its operations, contributing significantly to the Mauritian economy. In recognition of his services, he was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1980 and was honored as a Knight of the Legion of Honour by the French government in 2015.

Beyond his corporate achievements, de Spéville has been actively involved in various professional and civic organizations. He served as President of the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry and was a founding member of the Jeune Chambre Économique de l’Île Maurice. His commitment to entrepreneurship and community development has left an indelible mark on Mauritius’s socio-economic landscape.

Today, while de Spéville has stepped back from day-to-day operations, he continues to serve as Chairman of Avipro Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of the Eclosia Group, and remains a respected figure in the business community.
