Mato Grosso, Brazil: Larissa Babilônia Badotti, architect and consultant for Caixa Construções is representing the company at the Morar Mais por Menos exhibition. She is presenting a project that’s boasted touches of boldness and modernity. From the materials used to the function of each piece, the architect aims to explore the outdoor setting to illustrate the concepts of the exhibition and to exhibit some of the construction company´s property developments.
“Combining refinement and comfort with issues of respect for nature and consequently for human beings has become the tendency worldwide, it is necessary and logical!”
Customers who have purchased an exclusive Caixa Construções property will also be able to see for themselves in this closed event, the work of this architect on the 30th of September from 7pm. The event will be a forum to exhibit new projects to be announced by the construction company.
In an interview with Larissa, the architect who prepared and executed the Jardim das Pérgolas exhibition project, she says:
What was the main inspiration for this Caixa Construções project?
We had a huge external space (nearly 250,00m2), and the challenge was to fill the space with structures that could be quickly installed and transferred. The islands, which show the projects undertaken by the company are surrounded by gardens, the idea for this being that we wanted our visitors to be able to have a nice meandering path to walk along as a pleasant and less obvious route. The Coconut trees were already planted on site and I opted to keep them. Thus the concept of sinuosity was part of the structure that already existed. Linking this exhibition area there is a large pergola to welcome the guests and another that covers all of the space used by Caixa Construções.
How did you choose the materials that were used in the space?
I aimed to use materials that came from projects already executed by the construction company and to customise them. The ecological boarding (made from recycled plastic bags and recycled aluminium) used by Caixa Construções was transformed into large fabrics and fixed in easels, just as painters use. Due to the great resistance and durability of this boarding, this material was used to cover the elevated flooring that is made from pallets to make it more comfortable to walk on. The draining floor, which is an ecologically sustainable product (made of discarded ceramics, stones, cement etc.) was also used here, due to its practicality in terms of maintenance, installation and for being a non-slip material.
In your opinion, is it difficult to combine sophistication with the idea of sustainability and recycled materials?
Definitely! But it is very satisfying to show that it is possible! An event such as Morar Mais por Menos allows us to clearly show this. Combining refinement and comfort with issues of respect for nature and consequently for human beings has become the tendency worldwide, it is necessary and logical!
Caixa Construções aims to provide exclusive developments. With Jardim das Pérgolas, what would you say shows exclusivity?
I think that the customization of the ecological panels in the easels is a good example. Whilst, the main factor that represents exclusivity, in my opinion, is the design that I developed for the wooden structure of the pergolas. It is a robust structure that is impressive but at the same time is light and cosy. I am really happy with the final result.
In other exhibits of Morar Mais por Menos, the materials and adornments can be sold. In the exhibit by Caixa Construções, can visitors also purchase certain pieces?
Yes! All you have to do is fill out the reservation form for the products that are available in our section. During the final week of the exhibition, our suppliers and partners will put the pieces up for sale with special discounts! Do make the most of it!
For the visitors, what aspects of the exhibit would you say require a more detailed observation?
The retractable pergolas supplied by Realce Persianas should not be missed. They are aluminium structures that can be opened manually or automatically, they are manufactured in a waterproof material to offer protection from the sun and rain. They are practical, functional and very charming. They make all the difference in the space.
I love the Farinheira table that Tropical Piscinas brought from Minas Gerais. Originally it was used to toast flour, and so its ceramic table top is highly resistant. It can even be used as a hearth, all you have to do is place wood on it and light the fire. It´s a great option on cold days.
The teak furniture from Zapata Casa e Jardim is perfect for outdoor areas, especially as the fabrics used on the sofas are waterproof and easily maintained. I really like the stackable chairs, they are really practical with a modern and bold design.
Another detail that I really like are the fibre vases, supplied by Verde que te Quero Verde. They are light but very resistant vases, and they are really easy to clean because the material used doesn’t attract dust.
I think that the “feel” of the lighting is really important in this project. Dimel Iluminação helped us to create an intimate space, enhancing the materials used in the project. I adore the light fixtures on the wall with the exposed brickwork, they provide the right lighting to ensure that the materials stand out and give more of a rustic and welcoming feel to the visitor.
What did it feel like to be asked to be responsible for this project in a national exhibition of such importance?
I was really happy and grateful that people had such confidence in me. Being responsible for this project has brought me great satisfaction.
