Dr. Kwabena Adjei: “Leading Entrepreneur Icon” 2013
Ghana: Richard Adjei, CEO of Kasapreko, has been awarded the “Leading Entrepreneur Icon” for the year 2013, by the African leadership magazine.
The Chief Executive Officer of Kasapreko, manufacturer of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, Dr. Kwabena Adjei, has been awarded the “Leading Entrepreneur Icon” for the year 2013, by the African leadership magazine, during their annual leadership awards dinner held in Accra.
The awards ceremony, under the theme “The change that Ghana needs”, was chaired by H.E. John Agyekum Kufour, former president of Ghana, and the key note address was delivered by Prof. Steven Addae, former Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

Presenting the award to Dr. Kwabena Adjei, Dr. Ken Giami, publisher for the African leadership magazine, organizer of the event, acknowledged Kasapreko for its tremendous contributions to Ghana’s economy and its ability to penetrate foreign markets.
Kasapreko is presently ranked 6th in the Ghana club 100, and is also the 2nd most prestigious company in the country.
The company has recently invested an amount of US$30million into its operations — two custom-made packaging lines with the capacity to bottle 40,000 bottles per hour on the PET line and 30,000 bottles per hour on the glass line, which will meet the growing market demand for other African countries and beyond.
The company prides itself in being the first of the local manufacturers to establish a modern quality control and product development laboratory, and the first to introduce its own proprietary bespoke bottles and caps.
The company was also responsible for the conceptualisation, research, design and development of the first scientifically formulated herbal-based alcoholic beverage in Ghana — Alomo bitters — which quickly became the company’s flagship product and has remained a household name.
Since its inception, the company has focused on developing products derived from Africa’s rich heritage of herbs by using modern research and development methods to transform traditional recipes into desirable consumer brands.
Dr. Kwabena Adjei is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Administration, and has won other awards for himself — Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana’s Marketing Man of the Year 2002 and also the Man of the Year 2000 by the American Biographic Institute.
Dr. Adjei currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Liquor Manufacturers Association of Ghana, is a fellow of the Commonwealth Hall of the University of Ghana, Legon, and has been conferred with an honorary doctorate degree by the University of Ghana for his immense contributions to society.
