“The biggest competitive aspect is the government support for electricity, fuel, some ingredients, etc. This helps us to maintain reasonable and low prices for the final consumers,” says Ali O. Al-Rakban, CEO of Al Safi.
“(It) is a continual process of adjustment. The regulations, laws, and by-laws all have to be meshed together, fine-tuned, and improved, and that doesn’t happen overnight. We hope that entities like SAGIA, SIDF, MODON, are slowly shifting from their previous stand to better stands,” says Emad Al-Shamma, CEO of Al Khafrah Group Holding Co.
“The challenge is the bureaucracy and legislation for establishing ventures in Saudi Arabia… it should take weeks, but instead it takes months. There is a big demand for industrial zones. “There are so many industrial products worldwide that you cannot count them all. However, if you are seeking new products, then Saudi Arabia is the place where you can implement the industrialisation of new products,” says Emad Al-Shamma, CEO of Al Khafrah Group Holding Co.
“Our biggest project here in Egypt is our partnership with the Egyptian Food Bank and our pledge to develop the hundred poorest villages in Egypt. We also have a project that is focused on improving the lives of 4,000 women and their families in these villages which provides microbusinesses to women in rural areas,” explains Omar Mandour, GM of Coca-Cola Egypt, Yemen, Libya and South Sudan.
“Our best approach to achieve our goals quickly was to enter a partnership with a large, leading multinational company. Our first partnership was with BASF of Germany. We then entered a partnership with St. Gobain, for gypsum. We are looking to invest and make up for the 2 or 3 years when we didn’t do anything. For 2015, we have a big program of investment.”
“The printing industry all over the world has been affected because of the media. However, the packaging industry is still active all over. In Egypt, the potential in the packaging industry is very big.”
