Diyar Al Muharraq Supports Bahrain`s Mariculture Efforts
An eco friendly organization, DIYAR AL MUHARRAQ, stepped up initiatives to enrich the open water bodies surrounding the project, replenishing it with a large stock of viable fish species.
In a step that has further consolidated its reputation as an eco friendly and environmentally responsible organization, DIYAR AL MUHARRAQ, stepped up initiatives to enrich the open water bodies surrounding the project, replenishing it with a large stock of viable fish species. Working in collaboration with the General Authority for the Protection of Marine Resources, Environment and Wildlife, 8000 Sobaity Bream juveniles were released in the marine areas around the DIYAR AL MUHARRAQ project (affordable housing in Bahrain). This initiative is a part of the Marine Resources Directorate’s release program intended to increase fish stocks in the waters of Bahrain and promote the creation of marine protected areas.
Mr. Aaref Hejres, CEO of DIYAR AL MUHARRAQ, remarked: “More than a billion people worldwide depend on fish as a key source of food and livelihood. As a corporate we have keenly felt our responsibility to enforce eco friendly and sustainable practices in order to preserve natural resources.”
Speaking about the environmental responsibility of corporate organizations and his company’s dedicated environmental advocacy Mr. Aaref Hejres, CEO of DIYAR AL MUHARRAQ, remarked, “More than a billion people worldwide depend on fish as a key source of food and livelihood. We are especially grateful to Dr. Adel Al Zayani General Director Public Commission for the Protection of Marine Resources, Environment & Wildlife, who helped provide essential data Mr. Jassim Al Qasser General Director for the protection of Marine Rescores who helped coordinate and organize with all concerned departments Dr. AbdulRedha Shams, Director of Marine Resources who has contributed effectively in the process of farming fish in DIYAR AL MUHARRAQ which is part of Ras Hayyan project to provide 200,000 fish to be released in the waters of the kingdom of Bahrain Directorate and the Directorate staff for their outstanding efforts in this initiative. It is our hope that our combined efforts will help create an action-oriented marine conservation initiative that will inspire people to care and act.”
One of Bahrain’s biggest mixed-use residential urban developments, DIYAR AL MUHARRAQ has been proactive in its commitment to establishing green practices, investing in a series of continuous initiatives to preserve the environment and educate the public on eco-friendly ways.
