Ahmed Osman Guelleh has built one of the Horn of Africa’s most diversified privately controlled business networks. GSK Group has historically operated in construction, shipping, freight, logistics, agriculture and manufacturing, with business activity extending from Djibouti into Somaliland.

One of his best known investments is Somaliland Beverage Industries, SBI, which developed the Coca Cola bottling operation near Hargeisa. More importantly for Djibouti, his business interests have long been closely connected to the country’s shipping, freight forwarding and port services ecosystem. Current Djibouti Port Community System records continue to identify him in the country’s shipping agency sector, while reporting in 2025 described him as controlling a significant logistics and beverage business network across the Horn.

His profile is less public facing than that of some executives below him, but economically he remains an important figure.
